Snack

Snack

I have a pet Boa constrictor, started calling her 'Snack' for a laugh and it stuck, Snack is her name.

I've already spoken about the time I was without a dog, that absence hurt. This lovely lady managed to make her way into my life when I needed it the most.

She's been in my life for a long time now, emerging into my work in early 2016. Appearing for the first time as an accurate representation and evolving into using her unwanted skin as a direct link to her.

I'm almost positive I'll be dipping back into this kind of work at a sketchbook level, to help assist in some ceramic pieces in the near future.

I'm in absolute awe of her everyday & that's ultimately why I decided to incorporate her into my work. That includes everything from movement to pattern and texture.

I feel ready to start exploring and implementing strength into some pieces too. I can't promise these will be functional pieces though, maybe just decorative.

I'm seriously aware that snakes aren't everyone's cup of tea, but for those of you who are interested I thought it best I explain why this element of my practice exists. It's really important to me.

Thank you so much for those of you who show an interest and even to those who aren't sure of snakes but still remain kind.
